The Playwright Restaurant opened in the heart of Dundee's cultural quarter in November 2007. Located in the charming Tay Square, with the Rep Theatre only 30 yards away, we offer fine dining cuisine, wines and cocktails in a relaxed and contemporary setting.

We locate our ingredients from some of Scotlands finest suppliers and use local produce where ever possible. Seasonality is also very important, from the stunning new season lamb and asparagus in spring to the glorious grouse in early autumn.

Our Head Chef and his team use this amazing produce to create classically inspired dishes with a modern Scottish twist, and make everything on the premises, from the delicious bread at the beginning to the sumptious ice cream with dessert.

Our extensive wine list (over 100 wines and Champagnes) is sourced from 3 of the most respected suppliers in the UK, and takes in varietals and styles from all over the world. We also make stunning, individual cocktails using fresh ingredients, worldclass spirits and infusions to create unique flavours.

We take as much pride in our drink selection as we do in our menus, and we believe that with wine knowledge and tailored aperirif and digestif suggestions we can take your dining experience to the next level

With 3 different menus (lunch, pre theatre and a la carte) and specially created themed evenings (wines of Italy, Brewdog Brewery, seafood and wine etc), we hope to entice you back again and again.
